Apple will unveil the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 next month during its usual September keynote. According to a new leak, there could be news regarding the strap design, which could be completely overhauled.
Kosutami (@KosutamiSan) first mentioned the possibility of one new strap design: “Apple is releasing a new strap for the Apple Watch that features woven materials and a magnetic buckle“.
The new band design could work similar to the watch strap Modern buckle that came out with the first Apple Watch. Apple’s Modern Buckle is a leather strap with stainless steel lugs and a sturdy stainless steel magnetic clasp. You can see it below.
It is only compatible with models with 38/40/41mm cases and has a retail price of $149. Apple also makes the band leather connectionwhich is made of leather on the outside and magnets on the inside.
During the Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 era, Apple sold a woven nylon strap that used a traditional jewelry clasp. Ever since Apple discontinued this style, Apple’s woven straps are either Velcro-style Velcro straps or closed-loop straps with precise measurements.
Last fall, Apple introduced new types of bracelets (Alpenrundweg and Trailrundweg) along with the Apple Watch Ultra. Before that the belt models Solo Loop and Interwoven Solo Loop they were the most recent creations. Sold only by Apple, Solo Loop straps require you to select a specific size that fits your wrist. Perhaps the new strap type could be something like a woven solo loop, but with an adjustable fit.
In addition to Kosutami’s description of the new band design, an image is also provided, but it doesn’t help much.
The upcoming Apple Watch Series 9 is likely to retain a similar design to the Series 7 and 8 models. For this reason, alongside the new pink color, the introduction of a new band could also make perfect sense.
