Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for The Beanie Bubble, a film that tells the story that gave birth to one of the biggest trends of the ’90s: plush Beanie Babies.
The Beanie Bubble lets us discover everything that was behind one of the most iconic toys of the 90s: stuffed animals Beanie Babies by Ty Warner.
Apple describes the film as “A tribute to the women who contributed to the success of Ty Warner, whose strengths and great instincts shaped and amplified the phenomenon, yet whose names are not on the heart-shaped labels of Beanie Babies.”“.
Why is the world suddenly treating stuffed animals like gold? Ty Warner was a frustrated toy salesman until his partnership with three women turned his brilliant idea into the biggest toy craze in history. The Beanie Bubble is a story about what and who we value, and the unsung heroes whose names don’t appear on the heart-shaped label.
The project marks the first partnership between Apple and Imagine Entertainment. The film was written by Kristin Gore (“Saturday Night Live,” “Futurama”) and will be directed by Grammy Award-winning director Damian Kulash (“OK Go.”). The screenplay is based on the book The Great Beanie Baby Bubble: Mass Delusion and the Dark Side of Cute by Zac Bissonnette.
The film stars Zach Galifianakis (Between Two Ferns, Baskets), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Love and Mercy), Sarah Snook (Succession, Predestination), and Geraldine Viswanathan ( “Gallery of Broken Hearts”, “Hala”).
The Beanie Bubble is coming to Apple TV+ on July 28.
