Motorola will add a Plus and Lite model to its Razr line of foldable smartphones later in 2023. Lenovo China’s mobile division executive confirmed the news in a post on Weibo, adding that the display cover is the same size as the original iPhone. This feature separates the Motorola Razr from the current competitor Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, which has a 1.9-inch outer display, and the Oppo N2 Flip, which has a 3.26-inch cover display.
However, it remains to be seen how Motorola will use the larger display. The main function can be that third party apps downloaded from play store can be run on the external screen. However, the lack of proper software support could make it just a paper spec. Therefore, implementing innovative features will be essential to make the Motorola Razr 2023’s larger external display useful and practical.
It’s not yet clear when Motorola will unveil its new models, but with the amount of attention the original Razr drew, the element of surprise certainly won’t be the same.
