New rumors are emerging about the much-anticipated launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The successor to Samsung’s popular foldable smartphone appears to retain its signature style but offers significant performance gains.
July 26th, the date for the next Samsung event, is fast approaching and with it comes anticipation of the arrival of a new generation of foldable smartphones. The current best-seller, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 could soon be getting a worthy successor that promises significant performance gains while retaining the streamlined design that has made the series so popular.
Friday, July 14, the well-known leaker ice universe has released images of 3D-printed models, so-called mockups, intended to represent the design of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5. According to these renderings, the device will feature a triple camera set similar to that of the Fold 4.
The only major change that can be seen in the images is the new position of the LED flash, which was previously on the camera island. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 seems to shift this light to the right side of the protruding lenses, resulting in a reduction in the size of the photo module.
The 3D model also shows a sharp crease dividing the screen in half. This debunks recent rumors of a revised waterdrop-shaped hinge, which would have made the gap less visible than on Samsung’s previous folding models.
It is important to emphasize that this information about the possible successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has not been officially confirmed by Samsung and should therefore be considered as mere rumours.
Predictions from leakers suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 could feature a 7.6-inch inner screen and a 6.2-inch outer display. Both screens are expected to feature AMOLED technology and support a 120Hz refresh rate. At the hardware level, the device is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform.
The photographic section is said to consist of a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 10MP periscope lens with 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization (OIS). As with the previous model, an integrated camera under the screen is also expected.
Other leaked specifications include the alleged presence of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection and IPX8 certification, as well as S Pen support and 25W fast charging. If confirmed, these latest features would further underscore Samsung’s commitment to combining style, functionality and durability in a quality foldable device.
