The Galaxy S24 retains the front sensor of the Galaxy S23 series

Samsung is preparing to launch its new Galaxy S24 series, but a leak suggests that the company will stick with the 12-megapixel front sensor already present in the Galaxy S23 lineup

As Samsung prepares to unveil its next generation of foldable smartphones, consisting of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, at next week’s Galaxy Unpacked event, there’s no shortage of nods to the future Galaxy S24 series.

For 2024, the flagships of the South Korean brand should inherit some technical features of the previous Galaxy S23 series. According to a new leak, Samsung specifically intends to keep the 12-megapixel front sensor.

After four years of using a 10-megapixel front sensor on its flagship Galaxy S line, Samsung introduced a 12-megapixel front camera with the launch of the Galaxy S23. Apparently according to information from galaxy clubthe tech giant doesn’t seem to have any intentions of opting for a higher-resolution sensor in the new flagship series.

Therefore, the future Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra are likely to retain the 12-megapixel front sensor of the models launched in 2023. However, it must be emphasized that using last year’s sensor does not mean that there will be no progress. In fact, Samsung could focus on optimizing the software and AI processing to further improve the camera’s performance.

At the rear camera level, the S24 Ultra should reuse the 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP2 sensor already present in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Since its potential has not yet been fully realized, it seems logical that Samsung is not yet ready to replace it with a new sensor.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to feature a significant new telephoto camera. While the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 10MP sensor with a telephoto lens and 3x optical zoom, the 2024 model could have a 5x optical zoom, further enhancing the device’s zooming capabilities.

Finally, Samsung has already confirmed that the Galaxy S24 range will see the return of the Exynos platform. It’s not yet clear which devices will feature this chip, but rumors have it that the Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra could come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, while the Galaxy S24 could come with the 10-core Exynos 2400.
